Community Meetings

As part of our community outreach program, the Air District organizes and facilitates meetings that provide an opportunity for local residents to share and receive information about air quality-related topics. Through these meetings and workshops, the District provides information and seeks input on pending regulations and permits, regional-wide clean air plans and strategies, or other issues of interest to a particular community.

About the Rule

Businesses that melt and cast, heat treat or recycle metals produce particulate matter (including dust), odors, and other pollutants that may impact neighbors in close proximity.

Air District staff has developed a draft new rule that would apply to metal melting and recycling businesses.

Public Information and Comment Opportunities

Air District staff welcomes comments and questions about the draft rule before and during the workshops, via phone or e-mail.

Following the workshops and close of the public comment period, staff will assess public comments regarding the rule and provide notification regarding next steps.

The deadline for public comments on the draft rule is August 12, 2011.
