Effective January 1, 2012, Regulation 9, Rule 7, Nitrogen Oxides and Carbon Monoxide from Industrial, Institutional and Commercial Boilers, Steam Generators and Process Heaters (9-7) requires that devices fired with natural gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), or any combination thereof, and with a rated heat input greater than 2 million and less than 10 million BTU per hour, be certified to meet the 9-7 emission limits to be sold within the Air District.
*This requirement does not apply to devices that obtain a BAAQMD Permit to Operate.
To certify your boiler, steam generator, or process heater download the 9-7 Certification Application Form and mail to:

or attach the completed application form and accompanying documents and email to: compliance@baaqmd.gov (*Subject: 9-7 Certification) Note: The Air District email has a file size limit of 10 MB.
Submitted applications will be reviewed by Air District staff and applicants will be contacted by the Air District with the certification determination.
