Mariposa Generating Station

(Note:  The Preliminary Determination of Compliance was issued on 8/18/10)

The District has issued a Final Determination of Compliance for the proposed Mariposa Energy Project.  The Final Determination of Compliance describes how the proposed Mariposa Energy Project would comply with applicable air quality regulatory requirements and proposes permit conditions to ensure compliance.

Previously, the District invited public input and comment on the Preliminary Determination of Compliance.  The District has considered all public comments it received on the Preliminary Determination of Compliance and has issued a Final Determination of Compliance for the project.  The California Energy Commission will use the Final Determination of Compliance in reviewing potential air quality impacts in its licensing proceeding for the proposed project.

The proposed Mariposa Energy Project would be a nominal 200-MW natural gas-fired power plant located at Alameda County, California, approximately 7 miles northwest of Tracy, 7 miles east of Livermore, 6 miles south of Byron, and approximately 2.5 miles west of the community of Mountain House.  The facility would be located southeast of the intersection of Bruns Road and Kelso Road on a 10-acre portion of a 158-acre parcel immediately south of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company Bethany Compressor Station, and the 230-kilovolt Kelso Substation on the southern portion of the Lee Property.  The geographic coordinates are 37.789400 N, and 121.601880 W.  The address is 4887 Bruns Road, Livermore, California 94550.  The facility would consist of four simple-cycle combustion turbine generators, a diesel-fired fire pump, and associated equipment.

Further information about the project and how it would comply with applicable regulatory requirements is available in the District’s Final Determination of Compliance for the proposed project.  The Final Determination of Compliance for the proposed project, proposed permit conditions, the permit application, and key supporting documents are available below and at the District’s Communications & Outreach Division Office located on the 5th Floor of District Headquarters, 939 Ellis Street, San Francisco, CA, 94109.  Copies of any of these documents and further information about the project can also be obtained by calling or writing Brenda Cabral, Supervising Air Quality Engineer, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, 939 Ellis Street, San Francisco, CA, 94109, (415) 749-4686, bcabral@baaqmd.gov .
