Air District Fact

The Community Air Risk Evaluation (CARE) program was initiated in 2004 to evaluate and reduce health risks associated with exposures to outdoor toxic air contaminants (TACs) in the Bay Area. The program examines TAC emissions from point sources, area sources and on-road and off-road mobile sources with an emphasis on diesel exhaust, which is a major contributor to airborne health risk in California.

Modeling Advisory Committee

The Modeling Advisory Committee is made up of a panel of air quality and emissions modeling experts from the U.S. EPA, ARB, neighboring air districts, academia, consultants, and environmentalists. From time to time, staff present results obtained from the ongoing data analysis and modeling to the Modeling Advisory Committee for broader interpretation of recent results and future research directions. The Committee is also a forum for sharing technical data among the participating districts, ARB, and the scientific community. Information on past and planned meetings and materials are available through this web site.
