Clean Air Public Transit Busses

Air District Fact

The Air District is supporting a hydrogen-fueled bus demonstration project involving AC Transit, Golden Gate Transit, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority and San Mateo County Transit. The goal of the project is to find the most economically effective way to operate a hydrogen-fueled bus fleet.

Toxics Modeling

To support the Community Air Risk Evaluation (CARE) program, staff conducted regional toxics modeling using the CAMx model. In this effort, the 2005 emissions inventory developed for the CARE program was used, meteorology was simulated using the MM5 model, and the CAMx model was applied to simulate toxics concentrations. Two different horizontal grid spacing were utilized, 1 and 4 km. The modeling results, along with exposure analysis, have been summarized in a report.

Preliminary toxics modeling report

Staff also conducted toxics modeling using future year (2015) toxics emission estimates. The meteorological inputs and air quality model used were the same as in the 2005 modeling effort described above. A report detailing the modeling inputs and discussing the results is available.
