Air District Fact

Complaints are routinely received for many air contaminants which may include odors, smoke, dust, and/or fallout. During regular business hours, complaints are dispatched to an inspector as soon as received, or, with very few exceptions, no later than 30 minutes after receipt. This ensures a prompt, timely investigation while the event is in progress.

Shuttle/Feeder Bus Service and Regional Ridesharing

ANNOUNCEMENT!  The Air District is currently accepting applications for existing and pilot Shuttle/Feeder Bus projects, and Regional Ridesharing projects. The deadline for applications is September 1, 2011.

Eligibility Criteria

Only public agencies are eligible for this funding.

Existing and Pilot Shuttle/Feeder Bus Projects

Projects that significantly lower single-occupancy vehicle trips while minimizing emissions created by the shuttle vehicle are eligible for funding. The project’s route must operate to or from a rail station, airport, or ferry terminal and must coordinate with connecting rail or ferry schedules. Projects cannot replace a local bus service or serve the same route as a local bus service.

Pilot projects are defined as new routes that are at least 70% unique and have not been in operation in the past five years.

Regional Ridesharing Projects

Ridesharing projects must be comprised of riders from at least five Bay Area counties, with no one county accounting for more than 80% of all riders.

Funding Availability and Limitations

Up to $4 million is available in fiscal year ending 2012 to fund existing and pilot Shuttle/Feeder Bus projects, and Regional Ridesharing projects in the Bay Area.

Projects that request more than $100,000 annually are eligible for only one year of funding and must apply each year for subsequent funding. In all cases, matching funds from a non-Air District source must cover at least ten percent (10%) of the total project cost.
