Ozone is the main ingredient in the pollution haze commonly called “smog”. Primarily a problem in the summertime, ozone is a colorless gas formed through a complex series of photochemical reactions involving sunlight and heat.

Technical Library

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District maintains a technical library with combined resources of over 35,000 titles, including 700 books, 3,500 technical reports, 30,000 microform reports and articles, and 80 scientific journals and newsletters. The library serves the Air District staff as an authoritative information base in the field of air quality management and is open to the public by appointment. Inter-library loan is available, by request, through another library or research institution.
