Conservation Tip

Individual behavior must be changed if we are to succeed because the majority of Bay Area air contaminants come from activities that involve individuals, like driving motor vehicles and using consumer products and gasoline powered lawn and garden equipment.   While there is still work to be done to reduce industrial and commercial emissions to even lower levels, individual consumers must change their behavior if we are to make substantial reductions.

Hearing Board Rules

Hearing Board Rules

The Hearing Board approved the Hearing Board Rules on June 2, 2011 after holding a series of workshops and receiving feedback and public input. Applicants should use the current Hearing Board Rules when applying for all Variances, filing for appeals, or to learn about the Hearing Board procedures and policies.

A sample variance application can be found on the District's website under "District forms". The link is located at the bottom of the main page. The variance application is also provided and referenced to in the Hearing Board Rules as Attachment 1, as well as a new Hardship Fee Waiver form, as Attachment 2.

Those applicants needing to file an Emergency variance application should contact Sean Gallagher, Clerk of the Hearing Board, at 415-749-5073.

To learn more about the Hearing Board Rules, applicants are also encouraged to read, Findings Required For Issuance of Variance.
