Air District Fact

In the Bay Area, with great progress having been made in improving general air quality conditions, the Air District stepped up its outreach to local communities in the region. And with ozone concentrations a fraction of what they were several decades earlier, the Air District increased its efforts to address the substantial public health problems presented by particulate pollution.

The Nine County Jurisdiction of the Air District

The District's jurisdiction encompasses all of seven counties - Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Napa, and portions of two others - southwestern Solano and southern Sonoma.

The full legal description of the jurisdictional boundaries of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is set forth in Section 60101 of Title 17 of the California Code of Regulations.
