Mr. Michael K. Shimansky, 26 year veteran retiree from Pacific Bell, was elected Councilmember for the Town of Danville in 1989 and currently holds that position after two elected terms as Mayor. Mike has consistently been re-elected every four years at the top vote getter, most recently in 2002. He currently serves on the Contra Costa County Homeless Advisory Board; the Central Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority; the Central Contra Costa Transit Authority; the Contra Costa County Hazardous Materials Commission; and Board Member of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

He has been married to his wife Sue for 39 years and has three grown children and two granddaughters. In 1996 he was an Olympic Torch Bearer and in 2005 he helped evacuation efforts in New Orleans with the Red Cross.
