Julio Magalhães was appointed on April 2, 2002 to serve
on the Hearing Board in the Public Member category.
Dr. Magalhães is an expert on the climate of
planetary atmospheres and has extensive experience in
the area of atmospheric physics.
His accomplishments include a key role in NASA's Mars
Pathfinder Mission and direction of public outreach
for NASA's Galileo Probe Mission to Jupiter. He is currently
an independent consulting scientist. Previously, he
worked for 15 years for NASA on planetary meteorology
research as well as public and educational outreach;
he has also taught astronomy at the college level.
Dr. Magalhães holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Astronomy
with a Meteorology emphasis from Cornell University,
and a B.S. in Physics from Stanford University. |
