THE PURPOSE OF THE BAY AREA AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT DISTRICT’S OFFICIAL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS is to provide Bay Area air quality information of public interest to local residents, businesses, visitors and other members of the general public. We encourage users to share this information with their network.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s Social Media Comments Guide provides social media users who choose to communicate with the Bay Area Air District via its official social media platforms with guidelines for engagement. Please note that the public comments expressed on the Bay Area Air District’s social media sites may or may not reflect the opinions and position of the agency’s officers and employees.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District considers its social media platforms to be moderated online discussion sites. As a result, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District reserves the right to remove comments that:

  • Contain profane language or other profane material;
  • Promote, foster or perpetuate discrimination or harassment;
  • Constitute or promote sexual harassment;
  • Constitute or encourage illegal activity;
  • Include links to external sites or are spam;
  • Are commercial solicitations or advertisements including promotions or endorsements;
  • Promote particular services, products, or political candidates or organizations;
  • Violate legal ownership interest of any other party, such as copyright or trademark or
  • May tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems.

VIOLATORS OF THIS POLICY may have their comments removed from the Bay Area Air District’s official social media platforms. Continued or egregious violations of this policy may prompt the Bay Area Air Quality Management District to further restrict an individual’s commenting on official Bay Area Air Quality Management District social media platforms.
