| Goods Movement Bond Early Grants |
|
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District) and Port of Oakland (Port) have received "early grant” funding from the Goods Movement Bond for air quality improvements. Applicants are eligible to receive incentive funding to install a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in port/drayage trucks operating at the Port. The installed cost of the DPF is approximately $15,000, and our agencies have partnered on this project to provide the equipment at a minimal cost to you. Please note that regulations will require a DPF device be installed on all 1994-2003 port/drayage trucks in California by 2010 and if you choose not to participate at this time you will be responsible to pay for and install required equipment on your truck. This funding is limited and you may be put on a waiting list and notified as additional funding becomes available. Program Requirements and Application In your application you will need to identify what type of DPF you intend to install on your truck. The Air District has a list of qualified DPF vendors that can help you select the proper DPF. The selection of the proper DPF requires matching your engine to a DPF verified by the California Air Resources Board. The DPF vendor must first install an exhaust gas temperature monitoring device on your vehicle for a few days. When the vendor has gathered the exhaust gas temperatures they can tell you the proper DPF to install on your vehicle and provide you with a cost estimate. Attach a copy of the cost estimate to your application when you submit your application to the Air District. Below you will find links to the program requirements, a DPF vendor list and application. You must submit the application by May 2, 2008 at the address below. Please print, complete and sign two copies of the application and return to: Joseph Steinberger Bay Area Air Quality Management District 939 Ellis Street San Francisco CA 94110 For further information contact: Joseph Steinberger Principal Environmental Planner (415) 749-5018 Port of Oakland Goods Movement Bond Hotline (510)-627-1380 Tim Leong Port of Oakland (510) 627-1537
