| Lower-Emission School Bus Program |
|
The goals of the Lower-Emission School Bus Program (LESBP) are to reduce the exposure of school children to harmful emissions of particulate matter (PM) and reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC), which contribute to summertime smog. The LESBP provides financial incentives to school districts to purchase new school buses to replace older, high-emitting buses and to retrofit in-use diesel school buses. School Bus Replacement or Retrofit Currently, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is not accepting grant applications for LESBP school bus replacement or retrofit funds. When the Air District has its next call for grant applications, this website will provide information on the application/award process and schedule. In addition, at that time, a notice will be sent via postal mail to the LESBP mailing list. To be added to the list, please contact the Air District staff person listed below or send an email (with your contact information, including your email address) requesting to be added to the LESBP mailing list to grants@baaqmd.gov. |
