BACT AND TBACT DETERMINATIONS

The tables that follow in this section represent the current Best Available Control Technology and Best Control Technology for Toxics determinations by source category. Commonly used abbreviations and acronymns are given below.

Glossary

A #xxxx - Bay Area Air Quality Management District permit application number.

BAAQMD - Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

BACT - Best Available Control Technology.

CAPCOA - California Air Pollution Control Officers Association.

CARB - California Air Resources Board.

CRF - Capital Recovery Factor.

MACT - Maximum Available Control Technology.

n/a - "Not Applicable": For example, the pollutant in question is not a significant emission for the source category under consideration.

n/d - "No Determination": No BACT or TBACT determination has been made to date for the source category or BACT or TBACT category under consideration.

n/s - "Not Specified": A BACT or TBACT determination has been made but no specific emission limitation has been set or the detailed equipment/process technology has not been specified.

NPOC - Non-Precursor Organic Compound: Any organic compound designated by the District as having negligible photochemical reactivity (see BAAQMD Rules and Regulations Section 2-1-207 for complete list of specific halogenated organic compounds).

PM10 - Particulate Matter with size less than 10 micron nominal diameter.

POC - Precursor Organic Compound: Any organic compound that photochemically reacts in the atmosphere to form ozone (Any organic compound as defined in BAAQMD Rules and Regulations Section 1-233 excepting the non-precursor organic compounds defined in Section 2-1-207).

RACT - Reasonably Available Control Technology.

TBACT - Best Available Control Technology for Toxics.

VOC - Volatile Organic Compound: Any organic compound, as described in BAAQMD Rules and Regulations Section 1-233, which would be emitted during use, processing, application, curing or drying of a solvent, surface coating, or other material.
