Bicycle-Friendly Community Events

A number of cities in the Bay Area host special bicycle-friendly events and celebrations in which local streets are devoted to bike riders.

Kidical Mass 
Kidical Mass is a legal, safe and fun bike ride for kids and their families. The first ride was held in April 2008 in Eugene, Oregon and has now spread to over a dozen communities throughout North America and beyond.

Pedalfest is a free celebration of bikes, cycling, food, family and fun at Jack London Square in Oakland.

San Mateo Streets Alive 
Streets Alive! Parks Alive! is a car-free open street event that is about enjoying our everyday public places—streets, parks, plazas and trails—and transforming San Mateo County to make everyday activity easy and fun for everyone.

Sunday Streets San Francisco 
Sunday Streets is a series of events put on by the City of San Francisco that create a large, temporary, public space by closing off stretches of a neighborhood’s streets to automobile traffic, and opening them to pedestrians, bicyclists and activities for several hours on a predetermined Sunday.

Free Bike Valet Service at the Livermore Wine Country Festival 
Ride your bike to the Livermore Wine Country Festival and take advantage of free bike valet parking sponsored by the Air District. This valet service is to encourage attendees to consider a car-free travel option to the festival.
