    Air District issues Spare the Air Alert for smog for Tuesday

    The Air District is issuing a Spare the Air Alert for smog for Tuesday, September 21. Wildfire smoke combined with high inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Smoke from Northern California wildfires is expected to also impact the region creating hazy and smoky skies.

    Air District offers $1200 to scrap old cars through the Vehicle Buy Back Program

    The Air District is announcing incentives of $1,200 through the Vehicle Buy Back Program for Bay Area residents to scrap 1997 and older vehicles to improve local air quality.

    Air District extends air quality advisory through Thursday

    The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Thursday, September 16. Wildfires across Northern California continue to produce smoke, which is being transported towards the Bay Area. As a result, hazy and smoky conditions are predicted through Thursday. Smoke is forecast to stay mostly aloft, and air quality is expected to be in the moderate AQI category. Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect
