Air quality is improving, and the Air District continues to monitor smoke across the region. Crews may remain on site today to extinguish remaining hot spots, but no additional prescribed burning is planned. Today’s Spare the Air Alert is for ozone and is separate from Tuesday's smoke impacts.

As part of its efforts to reduce air pollution in the Bay Area, the Air District has allocated more than $90 million towards grant programs that will provide funding in phases from July 2016 through June 2017 for mobile source projects.

The Air District and Contra Costa Health Services are working together to investigate all potential sources of odors that fouled the air in San Francisco and Point Richmond earlier this week. Sources under investigation include the Richmond Chevron Refinery, West Contra Costa County Composting Facility, shipping traffic, and sewage treatment facilities.
