The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is advising Bay Area residents that although the forecast indicates the region will not exceed the federal health standard for smog, conditions remain elevated for fire danger and potential smoke impacts. 

The Air District announced that two notices of violation have been issued to Sims Metal Management for the January 30 fire at the company’s scrap metal facility in Richmond.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s 2018-19 Winter Spare the Air season ended February 28, with 16 Winter Spare the Air Alerts called from November through February.
