The Air District's Board of Directors approved funding today for 92 new plug-in electric vehicle charging stations throughout the nine-county region. On July 15, 2020, the Air District’s Board of Directors will hold a public hearing to consider approval of Emissions Statement Certification for the 1997, 2008 and 2015 8-hour Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards. The public comment period is now open and will close on Monday, July 6, 2020.

On Wednesday, December 16, the Air District’s Board of Directors will consider three petroleum refining rules and amendments for adoption. The Air District originally planned to bring six rules for consideration, but due to the large number of public comments received, extra time is required to consider changes to the three remaining rules.

The Air District's Board of Directors unanimously adopted strong new provisions that will significantly improve the agency’s wood burning regulation designed to further safeguard public health against the hazards of fine particle pollution. The changes to the Air District’s wood burning regulation tighten exemptions and requirements from the original rule which was adopted in July 2008.

The Air District's Board of Directors approved allocating $4 million in Community Air Protection Incentives funding to support home and school air filtration programs in Bay Area communities at their June 4 meeting. As part of this initiative, the Air District Board authorized up to $1.3 million of upgrades in public schools in Richmond, North Richmond, San Pablo, and Tara Hills. An additional $1.7 million will be used to expand air filtration upgrades in schools in Bayview-Hunters Point in San Francisco, and $1 million will be allocated to the Air District’s Home Air Filtration program.
