Air quality is improving following today’s burn, and the Air District continues to monitor smoke across the region. Crews may remain on site tomorrow to extinguish remaining hot spots, but no additional prescribed burning is planned. Wednesday’s Spare the Air Alert is for ozone and is separate from today’s smoke impacts.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from Canada and Alaska in the Bay Area through Monday, June 23. Smoke from various wildfires in western Canada and in Alaska is expected to continue to impact air quality in the Bay Area on Monday. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. The public can check for real-time smoke pollution levels in their local area with the U.S. EPA’s Fire and Smoke Map. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible, the smell of smoke is possible and air quality may become unhealthy on Monday.
