    Air District forges agreement with Martin Marietta to close Pier 94, pursues Pier 92 abatement order in Bayview Hunters Point

    The Air District announced today that it has successfully secured a Closure Plan and Agreement with Martin Marietta, terminating operations at its Bayview Hunters Point sand and aggregate processing site at Pier 94. This action will require Martin Marietta to cease all sand and aggregate processing operations by October 31, 2023, and comply with dust control provisions until it vacates the site.

    Air District extends Spare the Air Alert through tomorrow for wildfire smoke

    The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert for smoke through tomorrow, Friday, October 25, for the entire the region. The Air District is closely monitoring smoke impacts from the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County and the northern portion of the Bay Area is currently experiencing smoke impacts. Additional smoke impacts are expected to spread across the Bay Area starting this evening.

Pollution levels are not expected to exceed federal health standards and no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.

Air quality is expected to be in the Moderate category on the Air Quality Index.
