Learn about the Air District's development process for Regulation 13, Rule 2, which would reduce emissions of methane and volatile organic compounds from organic material handling in the Bay Area.

The Air District’s Board of Directors today adopted amendments to Regulation 2, Rule 1: General Requirements, and Regulation 2, Rule 5: New Source Review of Toxic Air Contaminants to better address air pollution in areas overburdened by environmental and health stressors. 

The Air District is inviting Bay Area residents to provide input on two new draft regulations. Regulation 11, Rule 18 would reduce health risk to local residents from toxic air contaminants emitted by facilities in the Bay Area, and Regulation 12, Rule 16 sets limits on facility-wide petroleum refining emissions.

Today the Air District's Board of Directors unanimously adopted Regulation 11-18, Reduction of Risk from Air Toxic Emissions at Existing Facilities, considered to be the most health-protective toxic air pollution risk control measure in the nation.

The Air District will host a virtual public workshop to present, discuss, and receive comments on potential concepts to amend Regulation 2: Permits to protect communities overburdened by air pollution. 

The Air District is inviting residents to provide input on revisions to Regulation 2, Rule 5 – New Source Review of Toxic Air Contaminants. The Air District’s New Source Review Program protects air quality when large air pollution sources such as factories and power plants are newly built or modified.
