The Air District is hosting a series of open houses to discuss the agency’s four new and amended draft petroleum refinery emissions reduction rules. Open houses will be held in Martinez on Sept, 15, Benicia on Sept. 17, and Richmond on Sept. 28. The public comment period for the rules and amendments closes on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015.

On July 14, the Air District released draft amended rule language outlining potential exemptions and a delayed start date for the existing zero-NOx residential water heater requirement under Air District Rule 9-6. The Air District is publishing the draft language for public review and comment ahead of the Board of Directors' consideration for adoption this fall.

On Monday, September 28, the Air District is hosting the last of a series of open houses to discuss the agency’s four new and amended draft petroleum refinery emissions reduction rules. This open house will be held at Lincoln Elementary School in Richmond starting at 6pm. The public comment period for these rules and amendments closes on Friday, Oct. 2.

The Air District today released a preliminary health risk assessment from air pollution for the Chevron Refinery in Richmond. It found the estimated cancer and short-term health risks from air emissions for people living near the refinery were above the allowed levels, which requires Chevron to implement a plan to reduce health risk. The public comment period closes on Monday, November 23 at 5 p.m.
