The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Thursday, September 8. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Wednesday, September 7. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. High-pressure over the region will continue to produce clear skies, light winds and very hot temperatures across the Bay Area. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for wildfire smoke and ozone, or smog, for Tuesday, September 8, and for wildfire smoke on Wednesday. This will be the 22nd and 23rd consecutive Spare the Air Alert called.

The Air District is issuing the winter season’s third Spare the Air Alert for tomorrow, Tuesday, December 22, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. Smoke from increased wood burning is expected to cause air quality to be unhealthy with the heaviest impacts in the Santa Clara Valley due to cold overnight temperatures and light winds.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert that is in place today, Saturday, August 28, through tomorrow, Sunday, August 29, due to wildfire smoke. The burning of wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors is prohibited.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Monday, September 6, in addition to the air quality advisory for smoke that is also in place through Monday. Wildfire smoke combined with high inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Smoke from Northern California wildfires is expected to continue to impact the region creating hazy and smoky skies.

The Air District is issuing the first Spare the Air Alert of 2022 for smog on Friday, June 10. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. Very hot inland temperatures, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

The Air District is closely monitoring smoke impacts from the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County and the northern portion of the Bay Area is currently experiencing smoke impacts. Additional smoke impacts are expected to spread across the Bay Area starting this evening.

The Air District is closely monitoring smoke impacts from the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County and the northern portion of the Bay Area is currently experiencing smoke impacts. Additional smoke impacts are expected to spread across the region starting this afternoon as smoke mixes down to the surface.

The Air District is issuing a Spare the Air Alert for tomorrow, Monday, December 19, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors.

Although gathering around a fireplace may be a Christmas tradition for many, there are serious health impacts associated with wood burning. Use of all wood-burning devices is prohibited.

Strong high pressure leading to a triple-digit heat wave, combined with light winds and vehicle exhaust, is expected to continue to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. 

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert through Tuesday, December 20, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert through Sunday, December 17, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. Smoke from wood burning combined with light winds and low overnight temperatures is expected to continue causing air quality to be unhealthy in the Bay Area. A high-pressure system in place over Northern California will act like a lid, trapping smoke at ground level, and offshore winds are forecast to transport air pollution from the Central Valley into the Bay Area.

The Air District is issuing the winter season’s first Spare the Air Alert for tomorrow, Friday, December 15, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. Smoke from increased wood burning combined with light winds and low overnight temperatures is expected to cause unhealthy air quality. High pressure over northern California will act like a lid, trapping smoke at ground level. Offshore winds may also transport air pollution from the Central Valley into the Bay Area. 

The Air District is issuing the first Spare the Air Alert of 2023 for smog for Thursday, April 27. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow. Light winds and hot temperatures, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

Cold overnight temperatures, stagnant air, patchy dense fog, and a high-pressure system over the region is allowing wood smoke pollution to continue to build up over the region. Concurrently, offshore winds transporting additional pollution from the Central Valley is continuing to cause unhealthy air quality in the Bay Area. 

Today, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is issuing the first Spare the Air Alert for smog in 2020. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow, Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Light winds combined with triple-digit inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area.
