The Air District's Board of Directors has voted to approve funding for several key grant programs focused on reducing air pollution and greenhouse gases in the Bay Area.

Spare the Air Status

The new funds are scheduled to be available beginning in 2018 and include:

  • Approximately $3 million towards multiple ridesharing, shuttle, carpool and vanpool projects.
  • Upon the California Air Resources Board approval, up to $10 million to provide incentives to low-income motorists living in or near disadvantaged communities for zero-emission and low-emission vehicles, and transit options.
  • $10 million towards a joint Air District & Metropolitan Transportation Commission partnership to support the accelerated adoption of electric vehicles in the Bay Area.
  • $1.3 million to fund air pollution reduction projects located in West Oakland and the Port of Oakland.
