The Air District is issuing another Spare the Air Alert for smoke tomorrow, Wednesday, October 30, for the entire region. While good air quality is expected through the region late today through tomorrow morning, air quality is expected to degrade again tomorrow afternoon as winds decrease and smoke drains south into the Bay Area. Strong winds through Wednesday afternoon may also cause growth of the Kincade Fire and new local fires with additional smoke impacts.

The Air District is closely monitoring flaring at the Chevron Refinery in Richmond and has issued an air quality advisory as localized smoke impacts are possible near and downwind of the facility, including the Contra Costa County cities of Richmond, San Pablo, Pinole, and Hercules, as well as Solano County. This is based on current meteorological conditions which can change depending on the duration of the flaring. Residents should follow instructions from local health officials.

The Air District's Board of Directors has approved the grant guidelines for the Local Community Benefits Fund, marking a major milestone for the Bay Reinvesting Penalties for Air Improvement and Resilience program, or Bay REPAIR program. The program will begin accepting grant applications on Jan. 29, 2026, opening a new opportunity for community-led projects that reduce air pollution, improve public health and strengthen community resilience in Benicia, Richmond and surrounding communities.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from wildfires in the western U.S and Canada for the rest of the day Thursday, August 8, and for Friday, August 9. An inversion layer combined with local pollution and residual smoke from fires in the western U.S. and Canada is impacting air quality in the Bay Area. As onshore winds increase this afternoon and Friday, air quality is expected to be Good to Moderate on the Air Quality Index.

Smoke from the Butler and Green wildfires is moving down the Sacramento Valley and is expected to continue to impact air quality in portions of the Bay Area on Saturday. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from the Moon Complex fire in Oregon for tonight, September 27, and tomorrow, September 28. Smoke from the Moon Complex in southwestern Oregon has been drifting southward offshore over the past few days and has mixed with the marine layer that is moving onshore over the Bay Area this Saturday evening and Sunday. The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for the Bay Area due to wildfire smoke from fires in northern Sacramento Valley for today, Thursday, July 10, and Friday, July 11. Smoke from the Butler and Green wildfires has been moving down the Sacramento Valley and is expected to impact air quality in the eastern portion of the Bay Area down to Santa Clara Valley on Thursday and Friday. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for the Bay Area due to wildfire smoke from fires in northern Sacramento Valley through Monday, July 14. Smoke from the Butler and Green wildfires is still moving down the Sacramento Valley and is expected to continue to impact air quality in portions of the Bay Area on Sunday and Monday. Areas that are expected to be most impacted will be parts of the North Bay and East Bay and higher elevation locations. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict.
