The Air District invites Bay Area residents to four workshops where they can learn about and provide input on three draft regulations that would reduce toxic health risks, cap facility greenhouse gases, and cap the carbon intensity per barrel of crude oil processed at refineries.

The Air District is hosting an informational workshop about the new Community Health Protection Program on Wednesday, January 31, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at 375 Beale Street in San Francisco with staff from the California Air Resources Board and a panel of community experts. 

The Air District will host a public meeting session on Thursday, October 10, regarding a permit application that was filed by Radius Recycling, formerly Schnitzer Steel Products Company. Members of the public are invited to attend to learn about and comment on this permit application.  

The Air District has reached a pivotal settlement with Chevron that will significantly enhance air monitoring data transparency, providing more information about air pollutants around the Richmond refinery. The agreement requires Chevron to take new data access and community engagement actions beyond those required by regulation or permit.

The Air District will host a public learning session on Tuesday, October 22, virtually via Zoom, regarding adopted rules (“Building Appliance Rules”) impacting nitrogen oxide, or NOx, emissions from natural gas-fired water heating appliances. Members of the public are invited to attend, learn, and ask questions about these rules.

On March 30, the Air District invites residents to a virtual meeting to learn about current air quality issues in the Bay View Hunters Point area, including enforcement and permitting updates at key facilities; to meet Air District enforcement staff working in that community; and to get air quality questions answered.

The Air District announced the recipients of the 2016 James Cary Smith Community Grant Program awards. The Air District used available funding to back 11 community-based partnership projects within the nine-county Bay Area region for a total of $261,274. The projects will increase awareness and engagement about air quality issues and initiate ways to reduce air pollution.

The agreement requires Tesoro to take new data access and community engagement actions beyond those required by regulation or permit.

The meeting will also offer an opportunity for the public to learn about proposed revisions to the Air District’s New Source Review of Toxic Air Contaminants rule.

The Air District is holding the first open house in Redwood City this Thursday to present and get public input on potential new control measures and strategies that may be included in the 2016 Clean Air Plan/Regional Climate Protection Strategy. The meeting will also offer an opportunity for the public to learn about proposed revisions to the Air District’s New Source Review of Toxic Air Contaminants rule.
