Learn about grants for public agencies who purchase or lease new plug-in electric vehicles.
This program aims to reduce air pollution in the Bay Area by incentivizing the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs). Funded by the Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA) Regional Fund, this streamlined incentive program provides funding to public agencies via vouchers that can be redeemed for the purchase or lease of qualifying vehicles. Up to $2 million is available, and funding will be awarded to qualifying projects on a first-come, first-served basis. The Air District is currently accepting applications through 4:00PM on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 (all paper applications must be postmarked by this date), or until program funds are exhausted.
Rebates are available for the following vehicle types:
For a full list of pre-approved vehicles, please review the Approved List of Vehicles(255 k PDF, 2 pgs).
Only public agencies within the Air District’s jurisdiction are eligible. Non-public entities are encouraged to visit the webpages
that provide information about grant opportunities for Businesses & Fleets and Residents.
Three pre-application webinars have been held to discuss program requirements, the application process, the evaluation criteria, and grantee requirements. The most recent webinar presentation has been posted under the Resources section below.
Based on demand, additional webinars may be scheduled in the future. A notice about additional pre-applications webinars will be sent via email to parties that have signed up to receive free TFCA email alerts.
