Public Agencies

Learn about grant funding for public agencies for projects that improve air quality in the region.

The Air District offers funding to public agencies for trip reduction, bike parking and bikeways, and clean air vehicle projects.  (Some of these programs are also available to businesses, as noted.)

Greenhouse Gas Reduction

On-road Clean Air Vehicles and Infrastructure

  • Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: Funding is available for public agencies and businesses to expand the network of publicly available plug-in electric vehicle charging stations at workplaces, multifamily dwelling units, and public locations.
  • Light Duty EVs in Fleets: Funding is available to public agencies and businesses for the purchase or lease of zero-emissions light-duty vehicles in very high-mileage fleets. 
  • School Buses: Funding is available for public school bus fleets to replace school buses, repower engines, replace aging CNG fuel tanks, and install charging and fueling infrastructure as part of an equipment project. 
  • Carl Moyer Program: Funding is available for public and private fleet owners to replace on-road, off-road, agricultural, marine, and locomotive equipment or engines and to install charging and fueling infrastructure as part of an equipment project.

Trip Reduction

  • Vehicle Trip Reduction: This program supports the operation of shuttle, feeder bus, and ridesharing services that reduce single-occupancy vehicle trips during commute hours.
  • Vehicle Trip Reduction (Bikeways and Bicycle Parking): This program provided funding to expand the region’s bikeway network (Class I, II, III, and IV), and to purchase and install secure and publicly accessible bicycle racks and electronic bicycle lockers.
