Troubleshooting
There are currently several known technical issues between the video streaming player used for live webcasts and recent versions of several browsers - these problems are affecting users who previously were able to view the Webcasts with these browsers. If you are having problems viewing a webcast, start by making sure your browser software is up to date. If the problem persists, refer to the workarounds described below.
Chrome
Autoplay Issues: Users who are experiencing issues where the video player appears but will not begin to play within Chrome may need to adjust the autoplay settings - Chrome recently made a change that now requires autoplay to be allowed with no user gesture or action.
- Copy and paste chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy in your chrome browser URL bar and hit Enter.
- Change the Autoplay Policy to No User Gesture Required
- Click Relaunch Now to relaunch your browser and apply the change.
- Refresh or open the page with the webcast or webcast archive and play it to ensure the setting has worked
Enable Flash
- Click the Chrome customization menu (
) in the upper right-hand corner of the browser
- Select Settings from the drop-down menu
- At the bottom of the page, click Show advanced settings...
- Under the Privacy section, click the Content settings... button
- A Content Settings window opens; scroll down until you see the Flash section
- Select the option labeled Allow sites to run Flash
- Click Done at the bottom right of the window
- Refresh or open the page with the webcast or webcast archive and play it to ensure the setting has worked
Additional compatibility and technical information for the integration of Adobe Flash in Chrome can be found on the Adobe Flash / Chrome Help webpage.
Firefox
Users who are experiencing issues with Firefox may need to update the Flash player (Adobe Flash Help) in Firefox or ensure that the Adobe Flash Player is enabled. To check the setting and enable Flash:
- Click the Tools menu in the browser window
- Select Add-ons from the drop-down list.
- Select Plugins from the menu on the left of the Add-ons page
- Select Shockwave Flash in the list and click the drop-down menu to its right
- Select Always Activate
- Close the dialog box and refresh your page
Microsoft Edge
Edge users will need to adjust the setting that enables Adobe Flash to run - to do so, complete the following steps:
- Click the ellipse (...) at the top right to access the Edge menu and select Settings
- Scroll down to the Advanced Settings section
- Click the View advanced settings button
- Locate the Use Adobe Flash Player section
- Toggle the switch On to enable Adobe Flash Player.
- Refresh the webcast streaming video page
