Public Open House: Join us for a Public Open House to learn more about the Draft CERP and hear from the Community Steering Committee. The Open House will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM, at the Southeast Community Center, Alex Pitcher Pavillion (1550 Evans St, San Francisco). Interpretation services are available upon request. Please email dmadrigal@baaqmd.gov by September 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM to request language assistance.
The Air District is continuing existing efforts to reduce air pollution and exposures in impacted communities through the state’s Community Air Protection Program, also known as Assembly Bill 617. This effort focuses on community-based emissions reductions in neighborhoods most disproportionately impacted by air pollution.
In February 2023, the California Air Resources Board voted to support the Air District’s partnership with the Marie Harrison Community Foundation to conduct a Community Emissions Reduction Plan process that will serve as a blueprint for improving air quality in Bayview Hunters Point/Southeast San Francisco. To further guide and develop this air pollution reduction planning and strategies, the Air District and Community Co-Lead Partner Marie Harrison Community Foundation created a representative Community Steering Committee.
Why Bayview Hunters Point/Southeast San Francisco?
Bayview Hunters Point/Southeast San Francisco was selected amongst high priority communities for focused action in the Bay Area due to longstanding air quality challenges, environmental justice grievances, and health inequities. Over the years, the Air District has partnered with many Bayview Hunters Point/Southeast San Francisco organizations to build community capacity, increase understanding of local air pollution and environmental justice issues, and bring together cross-agency approaches for improving environmental health and local air quality. The Air District and Community Co-Lead Partner Marie Harrison Community Foundation are now working together to co-lead this AB 617 Community Emissions Reduction Plan.
