Public Open House: Join us for a Public Open House to learn more about the Draft CERP and hear from the Community Steering Committee. The Open House will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM, at the Southeast Community Center, Alex Pitcher Pavillion (1550 Evans St, San Francisco). Interpretation services are available upon request. Please email dmadrigal@baaqmd.gov by September 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM to request language assistance.
The Air District is continuing existing efforts to reduce air pollution and exposures in impacted communities through the state’s Community Air Protection Program, also known as Assembly Bill 617. This effort focuses on community-based emissions reductions in neighborhoods most disproportionately impacted by air pollution.
In September 2022, the Marie Harrison Community Foundation and the Bayview Hunters Point Community Advocates submitted a community self-nomination request to the Air District, calling for the greater Bayview Hunters Point area and Southeast San Francisco (BVHP/SESF) to be selected for the CERP development process. In February 2023, CARB approved the selection of BVHP/SESF for CERP development.
Why Bayview Hunters Point/Southeast San Francisco?
Bayview Hunters Point/Southeast San Francisco was selected amongst high priority communities for focused action in the Bay Area due to longstanding air quality challenges, environmental justice issues, and health inequities. The Air District partnered with community Co-Lead Marie Harrison Community Foundation to recruit community members to create a CSC, guide CERP development, and support community engagement throughout the CERP development process. The CSC has met since January 2024.
