The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert for smoke through tomorrow, Friday, October 25, for the entire the region. The Air District is closely monitoring smoke impacts from the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County and the northern portion of the Bay Area is currently experiencing smoke impacts. Additional smoke impacts are expected to spread across the Bay Area starting this evening.

The Air District is issuing the twentieth Spare the Air Alert for smoke today, Thursday, October 24, for the entire the region. The Air District is closely monitoring smoke impacts from the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County and the northern portion of the Bay Area is experiencing smoke impacts. Additional impacts may spread across the Bay Area this evening and into tomorrow. Residents should follow evacuation orders and instructions from local health officials. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from the Park Fire in Northern California for today, Sunday, July 28, and tomorrow, Monday, July 29. Smoke from the Park Fire is expected to impact air quality in parts of the Bay Area today and tomorrow. Hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible at high elevations. Air quality is expected to remain in the Good to Moderate categories on the Air Quality Index.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Monday, August 15. Smoke from the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in Humboldt and Trinity counties is expected to impact the Bay Area tomorrow. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present tomorrow. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Tuesday, August 22. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern California and the Plant Fire in Southern California is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Monday and Tuesday, causing air quality to reach moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present tomorrow.

The Air District is issuing the third Spare the Air Alert of 2022 for smog for Tuesday, August 16. The Bay Area will also continue to have smoke impacts from the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in Humboldt and Trinity counties. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow, Tuesday, August 16. The combination of wildfire smoke with hot inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust is expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Smoke from Northern California wildfires is expected to continue to impact the region creating hazy and smoky skies.

Smoke from the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in Humboldt and Trinity counties is expected to continue to impact the Bay Area tomorrow. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect for Wednesday and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present tomorrow. 

Due to continued heavy smoke moving into the Bay Area from the Camp Fire in Butte County, the Air District is extending the Winter Spare the Air Alert through Tuesday, November 20.

Due to heavy smoke blowing into the Bay Area from the extensive Camp Fire in Butte County, the Air District is issuing a Winter Spare the Air Alert through Monday, November 12.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from the Moon Complex fire in Oregon for tonight, September 27, and tomorrow, September 28. Smoke from the Moon Complex in southwestern Oregon has been drifting southward offshore over the past few days and has mixed with the marine layer that is moving onshore over the Bay Area this Saturday evening and Sunday. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. The public can check for real-time smoke pollution levels in their local area with the U.S. EPA’s Fire and Smoke Map. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible, and the smell of smoke is possible.

During this challenging time, the Air District is asking the public to not burn wood in their fireplaces, outdoor fire pits or woodstoves during the shelter-in-place order for COVID-19 to protect the respiratory health of all Bay Area residents.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for the Bay Area due to wildfire smoke from fires in northern Sacramento Valley through Monday, July 14. Smoke from the Butler and Green wildfires is still moving down the Sacramento Valley and is expected to continue to impact air quality in portions of the Bay Area on Sunday and Monday. Areas that are expected to be most impacted will be parts of the North Bay and East Bay and higher elevation locations. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict.
