The Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s 2018-19 Winter Spare the Air season ended February 28, with 16 Winter Spare the Air Alerts called from November through February.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for smoke for the far South Bay, including Morgan Hill, San Martin, and Gilroy through Tuesday, July 7. Beginning late Saturday, the Park Fire broke out east of Morgan Hill, and on Sunday, the larger Crews Fire started east of Gilroy. Air quality impacts are possible near the fires.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Wednesday, September 7. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. High-pressure over the region will continue to produce clear skies, light winds and very hot temperatures across the Bay Area. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels.

The Air District has issued four violations to the Chevron refinery in Richmond for the December 28, 2016, incident that resulted in an upset and flaring at the refinery and many odor complaints in San Francisco and Richmond.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for wildfire smoke from the Glass Fire in Napa County and for smog through Monday, September 28, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors.
