Boiler Certification Program

Apply to certify boilers, steam generators, and process heaters that meet Air District requirements.

The Nitrogen Oxides and Carbon Monoxide from Industrial, Institutional, and Commercial Boilers, Steam Generators and Process Heaters Rule (PDF) limits emissions of NOx and CO from industrial equipment.

The rule requires that boilers, steam generators, and process heaters with a rated input between 2 and 10 million BTU/hour must be certified with the Air District. This requirement does not apply to equipment governed by a Permit to Operate.

Apply for Certification

To certify your boiler, steam generator, or process heater:

  1. Download and complete the Boiler Certification Application Form (PDF).
  2. Submit your completed application to the Air District by mail (Attn: Boiler Certification) or email.

Certified Equipment

The Air District does not endorse or warrant any specific product or manufacturer. However, a list of certified equipment (PDF) is available for review.
