Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program

The Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program provides funding to support projects that improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing vehicle trips and miles traveled in the Bay Area.

Reducing single-occupancy commute trips is one of the key strategies for improving air quality in the Bay Area.

For fiscal year ending 2020, approximately $6 million in funding is available for award through the Vehicle Trip Reduction Grant Program to public agencies for transportation  services (including first- and last-mile connection) and bicycle infrastructure that will reduce vehicle trips.

This program is funded through the Air District’s Transportation Fund for Clean Air Regional Fund, which provides grants to improve air quality within the nine-county Bay Area by reducing emissions of criteria pollutants from on-road vehicles.
