Permit Regulation Changes
Register your EPA-certified or pellet-fueled wood-burning device for a sole source of heat exemption, or register qualifying small sources of air pollution for permission to operate through Air District registration programs.
Effective November 1, 2016, for anyone claiming an exemption from Winter Spare the Air Alert burn bans because his or her sole source of heat is a wood-burning device, Air District regulations require that this device be EPA-certified or pellet-fueled and that it be registered with the Air District.
The Air District allows qualifying small sources of air pollution to obtain permission to operate through a registration program instead of the regular Authority to Construct/Permit to Operate process. After receiving the Certificate of Registration, the owner/operator can operate the registered equipment during the registration period. The owner/operator should review the Terms & Conditions on the certificate to ensure compliance with all requirements.
REGISTRATION SYSTEM DOWN
New registrations and renewals for the following equipment and operations are currently unavailable as the Air District transitions to a new online permitting system:
If you need to register new equipment, please email us at
New equipment requiring registration may be installed and operated provided that:
For existing registrations that have expired, when the new system is ready to use, the Air District will be sending you an invitation to create an account in the new system. Once you have created your account, you will be sent a registration renewal invoice which may be paid online.
We will not take enforcement action on expired registrations during this period.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
