Prescribed Burn Planned for Angel Island
The Air District is working closely with CAL FIRE + California State Parks on a prescribed burn planned for Angel Island mid-week to ensure ground-level smoke impacts are minimized as much as possible. Agencies will closely monitor conditions throughout the burn and will cease operations if conditions change or are no longer suitable.

Forecasting and Data Analysis
Get daily forecasts of air quality and weather factors that affect air pollution potential in the Bay Area.
The Air District’s Meteorology and Data Analysis Section validates, compiles and interprets weather and air quality data and issues daily forecasts for air quality. They examine how emissions from certain facilities affect nearby residents and identify weather factors related to long-term air quality trends.
Available daily forecasts include:
- Five-day air quality forecasts using the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index.
- Whether open burning is currently allowed.
- Special Spare the Air forecasts for ozone (voluntary cutbacks on driving, aerosols, oil-based paints, and other pollutants) and fine particulate pollution (mandatory restrictions on wood burning).
- Special Air Pollution Episode Plan(14 Kb PDF, 4 pgs, revised 4/24/2018) alerts for certain air contaminants.
