Air District funding is available to help upgrade or replace heavy-duty trucks and transit buses with newer, lower-emission vehicles.
Opening Summer 2026: the Voucher Incentive Program (VIP) will offer funding to replace older diesel and alternative fuel trucks with new zero emission trucks. Information will be posted to this webpage and shared with subscribers to the grants notification email list. Subscribe to the grants notification email list on the Apply for Funding page.

The following are funding sources that could be used to fund heavy-duty truck and transit bus projects. If you wish to use a particular funding source for your project, please note so in your application.

Beginning fiscal year 2022-2023, in accordance with Assembly Bill (AB) 794 (Carrillo, Chapter 748, Statutes of 2021), a fleet purchaser is required to meet specific labor standards to receive funding for new drayage and short haul trucks under state incentive programs. As defined in AB 794, “'Short-haul trucking service' means movement of goods by truck within a 150-air-mile radius of the normal working reporting location while in service within the state.” If you have experienced or observed a labor standards violation from a fleet purchaser, please submit a labor law complaint, via this CARB website.

The Bay Area Air District is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for the replacement of 2010 – 2020 EMY Heavy Duty trucks with new Zero Emission trucks through the Voucher Incentive Program (VIP). The program will open in Summer, 2026. A Webinar will be held on June 24, 2026, from 10am to 11am to review the program opportunity, eligibility requirements and the application process. We encourage you to join us and ask questions.
