The Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s Board of Directors approved more than $2.6 million in Carl Moyer Program grant funds to help reduce air emissions through grant projects of over $100,000 by installing cleaner engines at nine Bay Area businesses.

The Air District is announcing that more than $90 million in incentive funding is now available through the Heavy-Duty Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Program to upgrade or replace eligible heavy-duty vehicles and equipment with cleaner and zero-emissions technology.

The Air District has opened the application period for year 19 of the Carl Moyer grant program, which reduces ozone-forming and toxic air emissions from older, heavy-polluting diesel engines.  

En 1998, la Junta de Recursos del Aire de California (California Air Resources Board, CARB) identificó la materia particulada (particulate matter, PM) de diésel como un contaminante tóxico del aire (Toxic Air Contaminant, TAC).
