The Air District will host a public learning session on Tuesday, October 22, virtually via Zoom, regarding adopted rules (“Building Appliance Rules”) impacting nitrogen oxide, or NOx, emissions from natural gas-fired water heating appliances. Members of the public are invited to attend, learn, and ask questions about these rules.

The Air District's Board of Directors approved $3 million in funding for the upgrade of wood-burning devices with cleaner heating options. Incentives for this program are expected to be available later this summer. The Air  District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Thursday, August 12. Northerly winds are expected to bring smoke from the Northern California and Southern Oregon wildfires into the Bay Area. Smoke is expected to be mostly aloft with intermittent periods of smoke mixing to the surface, particularly at higher elevation locations in the North and East Bay regions.  Air quality is not expected to exceed the federal health standard and therefore, no Spare the Air Alert is in effect.
