The annual Youth for Environment and Sustainability, or YES, Conference, co-sponsored by the Air District, returns to the Bay Area on Saturday, February 24, 2018. It will be held at Laney College, 900 Fallon Street in Oakland from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The free day-long regional conference will bring together middle and high school students from the nine Bay Area counties to discuss topics ranging from climate change and public health to transportation and air pollution.

The Air District's Board of Directors will consider the proposed 2017 Clean Air Plan – a call to action to Spare the Air and Cool the Climate (YouTube streaming video) - at their regularly scheduled board meeting on Wednesday, April 19, starting at 9:45 AM. The 2017 Plan aims to lead the region to a post-carbon economy, to continue progress toward attaining all state and federal air quality standards, and to eliminate health risk disparities from exposure to air pollution among Bay Area communities.

A decommission-only option is also available for homeowners to remove existing open-hearth fireplaces or older, uncertified wood-burning stoves or inserts.
