The Air District has announced a $13.3 million grant to the San Mateo County Transit District toward the installation of new high-capacity electric bus charging infrastructure at its San Carlos facility. This SamTrans project will help accelerate the transition of the SamTrans bus fleet to zero-emission technology and improve air quality in communities most affected by air pollution.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is advising Bay Area residents of the possibility that smoke from the wildfires around California may impact parts of Marin, Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties. Air quality is forecast to be in the good or low moderate category and impacts are expected to be minor.

The Air District's Board of Directors unanimously adopted strong new provisions that will significantly improve the agency’s wood burning regulation designed to further safeguard public health against the hazards of fine particle pollution. The changes to the Air District’s wood burning regulation tighten exemptions and requirements from the original rule which was adopted in July 2008.

The Air District announced today that Tesoro Refining & Marketing Co. has agreed to pay $646,140 to settle air pollution violations at its Golden Eagle Refinery in Martinez. The settlement covers 36 notices of violation issued to Tesoro for non-compliance at its refinery in 2012.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District today announced a recent settlement with Chevron U.S.A to pay a $146,000 civil penalty for air quality violations at its refinery in Richmond. The Air District is announcing the availability of funds to install cleaner heating options for residents located in areas highly affected by wood smoke and areas with disproportionate impacts from air pollution. The program will open at 11 a.m. on January 16, 2018, on a first-come, first-served basis. 

The Air District announced that Phillips 66 Company has agreed to pay $99,400 to to settle a group of 13 Notices of Violation issued for air quality violations that occurred at its Rodeo refinery in 2015.

The Air District's Board of Directors has set aside $250,000 to fund community science projects through the James Cary Smith Community Grant Program for fiscal year ending 2018.
