The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Wednesday, August 18. Smoke from the Northern California wildfires is expected to again impact the Bay Area on Wednesday. Onshore winds are expected to shift to strong north/northeast winds in the Sacramento Valley, pushing smoke into the Bay Area. Smoke impacts are forecast to be more widespread than last week. Air quality is expected to be in the mid to high-moderate range and not exceed the federal health standard, so no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday, August 16. Smoke from Northern California and Southern Oregon wildfires continues to impact the Bay Area. Smoke is expected to be mostly aloft with intermittent periods of smoke mixing to the surface, particularly at higher altitude locations in the North and East Bay mountains and coastal regions down towards the Santa Cruz Mountains. Air quality is not expected to exceed the federal health standard and therefore, no Spare the Air Alert is in effect. 

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Monday, August 15. Smoke from the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in Humboldt and Trinity counties is expected to impact the Bay Area tomorrow. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present tomorrow. 

The Air District is announcing the start of the Winter Spare the Air season, Wednesday, November 1. The Air District calls Winter Spare the Air Alerts when air quality is forecast to be unhealthy due to fine particulate pollution, primarily from wood smoke. When an alert is in effect during the Winter Spare the Air season, from November 1 through February 28, it is illegal to burn wood, manufactured fire logs, or any other solid fuel both indoors and outdoors in the Bay Area for a full 24-hours.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday, August 29. Smoke from the Rum Creek Fire in southwest Oregon and the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in northwest California is expected to impact the Bay Area through Monday. Elevated air pollution levels are likely. However, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard, and a Spare the Air Alert is not in effect. Smoky, hazy skies will be visible and the smell of smoke is expected to be present within the Bay Area.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Sunday, August 28. Smoke from the Rum Creek Fire in southwest Oregon is expected to impact the Bay Area tomorrow. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present tomorrow.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Tuesday, August 22. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern California and the Plant Fire in Southern California is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Monday and Tuesday, causing air quality to reach moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for tomorrow, Tuesday, August 23. Smoke from the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in Humboldt and Trinity counties is expected to impact the Bay Area tomorrow. Isolated pockets of elevated air pollution levels are possible; however, pollution levels are not expected to exceed the national 24-hour standard. A Spare the Air Alert is not in effect and air quality is not expected to be unhealthy. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke may be present tomorrow. 

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Monday, August 21. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern California and the Plant Fire in Southern California is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Sunday and Monday, causing air quality to reach low-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District is issuing the third Spare the Air Alert of 2022 for smog for Tuesday, August 16. The Bay Area will also continue to have smoke impacts from the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in Humboldt and Trinity counties. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow, Tuesday, August 16. The combination of wildfire smoke with hot inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust is expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Smoke from Northern California wildfires is expected to continue to impact the region creating hazy and smoky skies.   

The Air District is issuing an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke for Friday, August 25. Smoke from the Smith River Complex and other fires in Northern California is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Friday, causing air quality to reach low-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory for wildfire smoke through Sunday, August 27. Smoke from numerous fires in Northern and Southern California and Oregon is expected to impact air quality throughout the Bay Area on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, causing air quality to reach low-moderate on the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Index. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible and the smell of smoke is possible. Pollutant levels are NOT expected to exceed the national 24-hour health standard and there is no Spare the Air Alert in effect.

The Air District is extending an air quality advisory due to wildfire smoke from the Pickett Fire through tomorrow, August 23. Smoke from the Pickett Fire in Napa County is expected to impact Sonoma, Napa and Solano counties through Saturday. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. The public can check for real-time smoke pollution levels in their local area with the U.S. EPA’s Fire and Smoke Map. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible, and the smell of smoke is possible.
