The Air District has filed a lawsuit against Acme Fill Corp. for illegally emitting high levels of methane and other organic compounds from its landfill in Martinez. The complaint, filed today in Contra Costa County Superior Court, seeks monetary penalties for multiple violations of state and local air quality regulations following a compliance inspection conducted by the Air District on August 24, 2023.

Today, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District announced that Value Plumbing Co., Inc., of Oakley, California, has agreed to pay $310,000 in a settlement filed with the Superior Court of the State of California in the County of Contra Costa for installing uncertified residential water heaters in the Bay Area.

The Air District is requiring a new Residential Fireplace Disclosure for anyone selling or leasing property with a wood-burning device in the nine-county Bay Area region. Beginning June 1, anyone selling or leasing residential property within the Bay Area will be required to disclose the health hazards of wood smoke, as part of the signed disclosure documents in real estate purchase or rental transactions.

Although gathering around a fireplace may be a Christmas tradition for many, there are serious health impacts associated with wood burning. Use of all wood-burning devices is prohibited.

Gridscape’s microgrids integrate several technologies, including solar panels and lithium-ion battery energy storage systems, to provide renewable power, clean emergency backup power, and grid resiliency.
