The Air District has published an environmental justice chapter, "Best Practices for Centering Environmental Justice, Health, and Equity," in the agency’s recently updated California Environmental Quality Act, or CEQA, Air Quality Guidelines. 

The public comment period for the Draft Guidelines for the Local Community Benefits Fund for Benicia, Richmond, and surrounding areas closes on Tuesday, November 25, at 5:00 PM. The Draft Guidelines describe the Local Community Benefits Fund, which will reinvest penalty funds back into communities impacted by air quality violations, supporting local projects that improve public health, reduce pollution, and promote a just transition.

The Air District's Board of Directors has approved guidelines for allocating $250,000 to fund community science projects through the James Cary Smith Community Grant Program for fiscal year 2017. 

The Air District’s Social Media Policy provides social media users who choose to communicate with the Bay Area Air District via its official social media platforms with guidelines for engagement.

The Air District’s review of Permit Application 25608 (Marine Terminal Permit Revision) is on hold pending the County’s CEQA review of the Phillips 66 Rodeo Renewed Project.

The Air District will honor Central Concrete with the Spare the Air Leadership Award on Thursday, May 28, at the 2020 Acterra Business Environmental Awards online awards ceremony. This year’s award ceremony is being be held online in accordance with local shelter-in-place guidelines due to COVID-19.

The Air District's Board of Directors has approved the grant guidelines for the Local Community Benefits Fund, marking a major milestone for the Bay Reinvesting Penalties for Air Improvement and Resilience program, or Bay REPAIR program. The program will begin accepting grant applications on Jan. 29, 2026, opening a new opportunity for community-led projects that reduce air pollution, improve public health and strengthen community resilience in Benicia, Richmond and surrounding communities.
