Valero Refinery in Benicia notified Air District of a planned shutdown of some refinery equipment beginning 1/31. Odors and/or flaring may occur. Air District inspectors will be closely monitoring. Report air quality complaints: 800-334-ODOR or online.

Spare the Air smog season begins today
Spare the Air smog season begins todayThe Air District is announcing the start of the Spare the Air summer smog season on Monday, May 2. Millions of cars on our roadways each day remain the largest source of summertime smog pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in the Bay Area. The Spare the Air campaign encourages Bay Area residents to drive less and look for ways to share, shorten, or change their commutes to help reduce smog, traffic, and gridlock in the region.

Air District to represent Bay Area at COP29The Air District is sending representatives to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP29, in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 11 through November 22. Air District Board of Directors Chair Davina Hurt and Executive Officer Dr. Philip Fine will hold a virtual press conference on Tuesday, November 19 at 10 AM. Bay Area residents are invited to join the discussion, ask questions and share their concerns by connecting with the Air District on Facebook during the livestream press conference.
