Air District strengthens building appliance rules to reduce harmful NOx emissions, protect air quality and public healthThe Air District Board of Directors has adopted amendments to Regulation 9, Rules 4 and 6, to eliminate emissions of nitrogen oxides, or NOx, from residential and commercial natural gas furnaces and water heaters in the Bay Area by requiring new appliances to be zero-NOx.

Final 30-day public comment period on proposed wood smoke rule amendmentsThe Air District is seeking to adopt regulatory amendments to Regulation 6, Rule 3 to further reduce fine particulate emissions from wood burning. Written comments on the proposed rule amendments must be received by 9:00 am on Monday, October 19, 2015. A public hearing to adopt these proposed amendments is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2015.
