The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog through Wednesday, September 7. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. High-pressure over the region will continue to produce clear skies, light winds and very hot temperatures across the Bay Area. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels.

Today, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District is issuing the first Spare the Air Alert for smog in 2020. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow, Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Light winds combined with triple-digit inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert for smog and the air quality advisory for smoke through Tuesday. Wildfire smoke combined with high inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Smoke from Northern California wildfires is expected to continue to impact the region creating hazy and smoky skies.

The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert for smog through Wednesday, July 3. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect today, Tuesday, July 2. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. Very high inland temperatures in the 100’s and weak afternoon sea breeze, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy today and tomorrow. Very high inland temperatures and weak offshore winds, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will continue to create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

The Air District is issuing the seventh Spare the Air Alert for smog (and the 11th overall this year) on Thursday, October 19. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow. High pressure over the region is expected to produce light offshore winds and hot temperatures across the Bay Area. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels.

The Air District is extending a Spare the Air Alert for smog through Thursday, October 3. A Spare the Air Alert remains in effect today, Wednesday, October 2. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy today and tomorrow. Very high inland temperatures and weak offshore winds, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will continue to create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

High pressure over northern California is expected to produce offshore winds and hot inland temperatures in the upper-90s to low-100s. High inland temperatures, along with motor vehicle exhaust, will create elevated concentrations of ozone, or smog.

The Air District is extending the Spare the Air Alert due to wildfire smoke from the Glass Fire in Napa and Sonoma counties through Tuesday, October 6, which bans burning wood, manufactured fire logs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors. Wildfire smoke combined with high inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust may also cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area.

Wildfire smoke combined with high inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust are expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. The Air District is issuing the sixth Spare the Air Alert for smog on Wednesday, August 30. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy. High pressure over the region will continue to produce clear skies, light winds and high inland temperatures across the Bay Area. These conditions, combined with motor vehicle exhaust, will produce unhealthy ozone levels. Smoke impacts from the fires near the California and Oregon border may also contribute to the formation of smog tomorrow.

The Air District is issuing the third Spare the Air Alert of 2022 for smog for Tuesday, August 16. The Bay Area will also continue to have smoke impacts from the Six Rivers Lightning Complex Fire in Humboldt and Trinity counties. Air quality is forecast to be unhealthy tomorrow, Tuesday, August 16. The combination of wildfire smoke with hot inland temperatures and vehicle exhaust is expected to cause unhealthy smog, or ozone, accumulation in the Bay Area. Smoke from Northern California wildfires is expected to continue to impact the region creating hazy and smoky skies.
